Sigma Nu

I have been a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity for three years and I have loved every minute of it.  I would just like to share a little background information about who we are and what we are about.

The Kappa Iota chapter of the Sigma Nu fraternity was founded in 1984 on the University of Dayton. It was originally created by six founding members in the Stuart Dormatory Complex. In the Spring of 2012 the largest candidate class was inducted in to the fraternity expanding the current number of brothers to 29. During the past year’s Pursuit of Excellence (grading scale for Sigma Nu Chapters), Kappa Iota received good or excellent marks in every category, taking one step closer to becoming a Rock Chapter*. The men of Sigma Nu strive everyday to exhibit strong brotherhood connections and community service on and off campus. Eighty percent of the current members are also involved in other clubs or organizations on campus, expanding their culture and the culture of Sigma Nu. In the spring the Kappa Iota chapter will be sponsoring the first annual Kurt Oblinger 5K in coalition with the American Heart Association. Kurt was a former brother in the Kappa Iota Chapter who died of heart complications in 2011. The idea was spawned to remember Kurt’s zest for life and lifelong dedication to Sigma Nu.
